Todorov's Theory of Narrative
Todorov suggested that narrative is constructed in 5 stages:
1. A state of equilibrium. this is usually at the start of the films where everything is calm and normal and everyone is happy.
2. A disruption of the equilibrium. This is when the equilibrium is destroyed.
3. A recognition that there has been a disruption.
4. An attempt to repair the disruption .
5. A reinstatement of the equilibrium (may be a different one)
These 5 steps can be applied to many different media forms.
