Our Chosen Genre
We have chosen to create a trailer in the science fiction, dystopia genre. After choosing this I decided to do some research into what the meaning of this genre is.
Dystopia: A dystopia is a community or society that is in some important way undesirable or frightening. Dystopia is translated into "not-good place". This perfectly reflects our narrative idea of people having their memory wiped every 4 years, but there are a select few who it doesn't happen too, as this is an unnatural and weird thing to happen. This would put not only the characters experiencing it at unease, but also the audience. Therefore creating a dystopian feel.
Dystopian societies appear in many different genres of film, but most commonly science fiction. This also fits with our narrative idea as we want to create a science fiction feel to the audience by making things seem slightly unreal.
An example of a dystopian film is A clockwork Orange. As you can see from the trailer, the society seems and makes you as an audience feel uncomfortable.

After doing this research it is clear that our narrative idea fits perfectly into the genre that we have chosen.
